A big congratulations goes out to the BHS Auto Club for their performance at this year's New Brunswick High School Challenge. After a rough start on Friday the team came together for an impressive showing on Saturday. The team's driver, Mitchell Jagoe, put up some great drag times but was knocked out in the forth round. The team brought home a win in the Burnout competition courtesy of Jordan Jagoe. Way to go team!
In celebration of International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, Bathurst High School became the first school in it's district to raise the Gay Pride Flag. Led by the school's Gay-Straight Alliance, the ceremony was attended by students, teachers, dignitaries and various media.
BHS Music and Art students are headed out on their annual trip. This year they are Boston bound for an educational and cultural experience. Bon Voyage to all!
On April 16th, students at BHS went silent for 24 hours for the millions of girls around the world who face poverty, exploitation and denial of education. These girls' voices go unheard everyday! BHS's Free the Children group organized the event at the school and over 80 students joined in to support the cause. “We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.” —Malala Yousafzai
Josanna Hickey, a grade 11 student at BHS has been awarded one of the prestigious 2015 Beaverbrook Vimy Prize Scholarships. Josanna recently took part in the Encounters with Canada “Vimy: Canada’s Coming of Age” Program.
Congratulations goes out to members of Bathurst High School’s Music Department on their win at this year’s Music Festival held at ESN. The group of vocalists were awarded the Knights of Columbus Award for best chorale. Way to go!
BHS students joined ESN once again for their Annual Bay Breakfast team building activities. The BHS students traveled to ESN Wednesday, April 22nd for a some great "get to know you" activities. Usually this would be followed by the annual Street Sweep activity but due to the quantity of snow still on the ground, it was postponed to a later date. On Friday, April 24th students met again at various restaurant around town to serve up breakfast to many Bathurst residents.
Congratulations goes out to Sarah Decoste for a third place finish at the Atlantic Sanofi Science Challenge. Way to go Sarah. Thanks to Stephen deVries for all his assistance.
