The popular Broadway musical The Little Mermaid will be performed at Bathurst High School in the Gwendolyne Kent Auditorium from April 21st to April 24th, 2016. Bathurst High School has been wowing crowds for over 10 years with their musical performances and the Little Mermaid will be no exception. Tickets are now available from cast members, BHS or Captain's Cabin. Adults: $15; Children under 12: $10; Family Pass (2 adults and two children): $40. Also available are Intermission Backstage Passes: an additional $5 each.

Grade 12 student Molly Kane is in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland this week to compete in the Special Olympics. Yesterday she skated her way to a gold medal in the Level 1 Women’s Dance. She competed with four girls from Ontario, one from British Columbia and one from Quebec. Today she competed in the Level 2 Freeskate, walking away with a silver medal. A big congratulations goes out to Molly for all her hard work and determination. Way to go Molly!

At the Provincial Swim Meet in Saint John this year the BHS team scored an impressive 3rd overall. The team earned 5 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 1 bronze. Alex Stever competed in the PARA division winning the team a 2nd place in the 50m and 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke,and the 50m Breastroke.  Jasmine Foran placed 1st in 100m Breastroke and the 50m Breastroke where she broke the standing record of 7 years in both events as well as 1st in the 100m Freestyle and 100m IM. Shane Kenny placed 1st in the 50m Butterfly and 2nd in the 100M Freestyle and 50m Backstroke.

BHS Student Representative Council President Barry Riordon is headed to Toronto to interview as a finalist for the prestigious Loran Scholarship valued at $100,000. Barry was chosen as one of 80 finalists from a record 4,273 applications received this year.

The Canadian Junior Championships began last Saturday in Stratford Ontario, and BHS’s own Donovan Roy-Lanteigne(right) was there to represent New Brunswick as part of its’ provincial U21 championship team. Things got off to a rough start for the team as Donovan was diagnosed with strep throat and was unable to play their first game. A spare from Ontario stepped in for the game against Northern Ontario, but they were defeated 7-3. Things picked back up on Saturday when Donovan took to the ice in their defeat of the Yukon team.

The yearbook is now looking for baby photos from potential graduates to add to the 2015-16 yearbook. Printed photos can be dropped off to Ms. McVeigh in room 227 or 228. Digital copies can be submitted emailed to lisa.mcveigh@nbed.nb.ca(link sends e-mail). Photos are due January 22nd, 2016!

Anyone not graduating this year can still purchase this year's yearbook. Simply bring $45 to Miss McVeigh and she will order a copy for you. These books will be available September, 2016.
